About the Authors
Michael J. Alcorn and Jay R. Charness
Jay R. Charness is the founder and executive director of A.P.E. (Avoiding Predators Everyday), a non-profit organization that works with
children and adults on safety, self-awareness, and self-defense. He has also been a small business owner and entrepreneur over the last ten years
as the owner of ProLine Machinery. Jay has a degree in psychology from San Diego State University. He has been an active writer for the last
eight years, and has been working on the development of this program since the start of 1999. He lives in Arvada, CO, with his wife and two
beautiful daughters.
Michael J. Alcorn has taught music in the Jefferson County Public Schools (CO) for the last 18 years, working with students at every level
of development. He is also a freelance composer and arranger, with degrees from the University of Colorado and the University of Northern Colorado.
He has been an active online author for the last five years. Michael lives in Arvada, CO, with his wife and three children.
